Results of contest for selection of member of Superior Council of Prosecutors from civil society announced in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - The commission for the selection of the candidate for the office of member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) from the civil society, nominated by the Moldovan president, today adopted the decision on the results of the contest. The commission members submitted the candidacy of Svetlana Balmus for this office to President Maia Sandu.
According to the presidential press service, Svetlana Balmus is lawyer and expert in the justice sector at the Institute for European Policies and Reforms. She also has an experience of 19 years as magistrate.
The contest was held in line with the Law No 3/2016 on the Prosecutor’s Office and the regulation on the way of organization and carrying out of the context for the selection of the candidate for the position of CSP member from the civil society, nominated by Moldova’s president, approved under the Decree No 548 – VIII from 29 December 2017. Four candidates registered for the first stage of the contest and also they were admitted to the second stage – interview, held on 22 September 2021.
