Moldovan electoral body to control financial flows declared by candidates

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission / CEC / has requested the Government's support for strengthening the electoral authority's capacity for monitoring and financial control of electoral contestants who will run in the new local elections on 21 November 2021.
CEC member Pavel Postică proposed during today's ordinary meeting of the central electoral administration that the institution ask for the support of the governmental authorities for the monitoring and financial control of the electoral contestants.
"Based on the agreement of the Government, the central electoral authority would have the possibility to request the State Fiscal Service, the Police or other institutions to send to the electoral authority persons who have access to the database for controlling and monitoring financial flows declared by electoral contestants." declared Postica.
The members of the Central Electoral Commission accepted the proposal, and the president of this institution, Angelica Caraman, will send the request to the Cabinet of Ministers.
