Moldovan foreign minister delivered speech at high level dialogue on energy

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu participated in a virtual format with a speech at the High Level Dialogue on Energy, an event that brought together government delegations at the highest level, including private sector leaders and civil society, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The dialogue aimed to mobilize commitments to achieve goal seven: accessible and clean energy and the energy sector targets in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
"I mentioned that guaranteeing access to reliable, sustainable and modern energy is a key objective of Moldova's energy policy in the context of efforts to ensure state security in the field and fulfill the commitments made by the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement on Change climate ", said Minister Nicu Popescu in his speech.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by UN member states, including the Republic, at a 2015 summit in New York. The 2030 Agenda is a comprehensive action plan that includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets. Achieving the SDGs and related targets will contribute to solving the most persistent challenges facing the world in areas such as environment, economy, energy, health, the rule of law.
The Paris Agreement on Climate Change was adopted at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Paris in 2015. The document sets out a global action plan in the long term to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
