Moldovan speaker meets new ambassador of Sweden

Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu met today Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova Katarina Fried, who is at the beginning of diplomatic mission. The two officials addressed the prospects of Moldovan-Swedish cooperation at the bilateral level, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Igor Grosu thanked the Government of Sweden for the constant assistance provided to our country in several areas, including in the efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. For the past two decades, Sweden has been a partner dedicated to Moldova's development and reform agenda, especially in digital transformation, gender equality, inclusion.
"We highly appreciate the partnership established between Moldova and Sweden, our state benefiting from continuous support both in terms of implementing sectoral reforms, EU integration, and through assistance programs for citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We still want these projects to be felt by all our citizens ". In this context, the speaker expressed his confidence that the partnership between the two countries will continue during the term of the new Swedish Ambassador to our country, thus emphasizing the importance of assistance and expertise in priority areas.
An exchange of views on current issues on the OSCE agenda was also held. According to the head of the Legislature, the Chisinau authorities will make the necessary efforts to promote a policy based on a strategic, peaceful dialogue, and the only beneficiaries will be the citizens on both banks of the Dniester River.
In the end, the Ambassador wished success to the speaker in exercising the function, reiterating the openness of Sweden to offer all the support during the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and to advance in the process of implementing the development reforms of our country.
