Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the Law amending Article 20 of the Health Care Law have been published in the Official Journal.
The document sees that patients with anophthalmia (lack of one eye or both), regardless of its etiology (including trauma), will benefit from individual prosthesis and consumables necessary for surgery from the funds of compulsory health insurance.
Currently, the National Medical Insurance Company only covers the expenses incurred by patients diagnosed with cancer, which disadvantages other categories of patients, who also need support from the state.
The Government, within two months from the date of publication of this law in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova, shall bring its normative acts in accordance with this law.
According to statistical data, 100 prostheses are made annually, of which 70% are for a fee. The prosthesis is performed by the Oro-maxillo-facial prosthesis center.
