Moldovan president says visit by Slovenian president support for country's ambitious reforms' agenda

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met President of Slovenia Borut Pahor in Chisinau, at an official ceremony, the presidential press service has reported.
„President of Slovenia Borut Pahor today came on an official visit to Chisinau, in order to convey a signal of support for our ambitious reforms’ agenda. I discussed with President Pahor our plan on the country’s domestic transformations and the directions of cooperation with Slovenia, which can help us in this respect. Moldova is interested in taking over Slovenia’s experience in diverse sectors, among the priorities being the digitalization of the public services,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
The head of state noted that Moldova counted on the support of Slovenia, which presently holds the Presidency of the European Union’s Council and backs Moldova’s European integration. ‘’This regards the deepening of the political dialogue with Brussels, speeding up and turning to good account of the assistance provided by EU and strengthening the cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. A good occasion in this respect is provided by the Eastern Partnership’s Summit, due in next December,’’ the Moldovan president said. Also, Maia Sandu stressed that Moldova would continue to consolidate the dialogue with diverse states, in order to give its citizens the chance to development and a worthy life here at home,’’ the head of state said.
At this visit by the Slovenian president, the two heads of state had a face-to-face meeting, during which they discussed the re-launch of the Moldovan-Slovenian relations and Moldova’s European agenda, as well as enlarged-format discussions with the members of the two delegations. Subsequently, the two heads of state held a joint news conference.
„I ruled to visit Moldova, as I want to support you in your vital concern – to improve the citizens’ living standards, to strengthen the democratic values in the society, to strengthen the relations with its neighbourhood and, not in the least, for the European perspective of your country,’’ the Slovenian head of state said.
President Borut Pahor is on an official visit to Chisinau, at an invitation by President Maia Sandu; this is the first visit at the level of heads of state after a break of 19 years.
