Frost expected in Moldova on first days of October

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced a yellow code of frost for 2-4 October. 

According to meteorologists, at night and in the morning, frost down to -3 Celsius degrees is expected in Moldova on 2-4 October. 

Contacted by MOLDPRES, sources from the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) said that the frost forecast would not hit the agricultural sector. ‘’These decreases of the air temperature pose no danger for the sunflower, maize or soy plantations. Only the fruit trees and vegetables planted improperly, especially on grounds in valleys, can be hit, although by this period, most producers have finished the harvesting works,’’ MAIA specialists said.    

In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
