Moldovan parliament speaker says leadership has ambitious agenda with strong mandate backed by citizens

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with President of Slovenia Borut Pahor, on an official visit to Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

The discussions were focused on subjects concerning the implementation of the reforms’ agenda, promotion of actions to boost the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and joint measures of backing the business.  

“We have an ambitious agenda with a strong mandate supported by the citizens. Thus, we are set to edify strong state institutions, which are to work for the citizens’ benefit. The zero priority remains to be the justice reform and the fight against corruption,’’ the parliament speaker said.   

Another subject discussed regarded the business environment from Moldova. Igor Grosu said that the authorities would do their utmost to improve the investment climate, opting for a predictable environment in achieving a mutual benefit with investments in this respect.  

At the meeting, the parliament speaker expressed gratitude for the support provided to Moldova by Slovenia since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, he thanked for the technical assistance from which Moldova had benefited during time, especially consultancy for experts in the public money sector.

President of Slovenia Borut Pahor welcomed the priorities established in Moldova and confirmed willingness to support the country, in the context of the holing of the rotating Presidency of the EU Council by Slovenia.
