Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - Fifty six cases of intoxication with mushrooms were registered in the first nine months of 2021, of which 17 ones in children with ages up to 17 years, including one five-year-old child.
According to data by the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), most cases were triggered by the consumption of tinned and congealed mushrooms. Most cases were recorded in the districts of Calarasi, Floresti, Edinet, Falesti, Orhei, Nisporeni.
ANSP specialists say that, in the case of intoxications with mushrooms, if the first aid is quick and well-provided, even the people intoxicated with the most dangerous species can be saved. For these reasons, the intoxications with mushrooms represent one of the major public health emergencies, especially in children. The quicker the symptoms appear, the more serious the intoxication is.
Physicians recommend that, when the first symptoms of the intoxication with mushrooms appear, patients should immediately call the 112 emergency number and avoid the self-medication.
