Moldovan electoral body establishes first rules for holding new local elections due on 21 November

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - The central electoral authority today established more rules for the carrying out of the new local elections due on 21 November 2021.
At a today’s extraordinary meeting, the members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) established the quantum of the no-interest loan provided to the electoral candidates. Thus, CEC set a quantum of a no-interest loan worth 25,000 lei for the electoral contenders, backed by political formations, social and political movements or public associations. At the same time, the electoral authority established that an independent candidate would have right to get a no-interest loan worth 5,000 lei.
At the same time, CEC set the general ceiling of the financial means which can be transferred to the account, Electoral Fund, of the electoral contender at the new local polls due on 21 November 2021. The largest sum which can be transferred to the electoral account of a contender is 759,289 lei for the electoral contenders due to run for the Balti city hall and 53,463 lei for the electoral contenders due to run for the Cupcini town's mayoralty. In the other settlements, the sums vary between 5,000 and 12,000 lei, depending on the number of citizens with right to vote, who have residence in the settlement where the new local polls will be held.
At the today’s meeting, CEC also established the ceiling of the financial means which can be transferred to the account, Meant for the initiative group, in order to support the independent candidate for the position of mayor at the new local elections due on 21 November 2021.
