Experts from Czech Republic to assess projects on ecological agriculture from Moldova

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - A group of experts from the Czech Development Agency are on a mission to Moldova on 4-8 October, in order to assess the projects from the sector of ecological agriculture and rural development, implemented with the support of the Prague government.
The mission of the Czech experts started at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), where a meeting of initiating with the sides involved in the process of implementing the projects on the period 2015-2021 was organized.
At the meeting, the evaluation team said that, during this week, it was planning to carry out analytical and sociological exercises jointly with competent non-governmental organizations and associations, National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), Institute of Plants’ Genetics, Physiology and Protection, the Central Phyto-sanitary laboratory, state enterprise, State Centre for the Attestation and Homologation of Phyto-sanitary Products and Fertilizers, state commission for testing plants’ varieties as to the sustainability of the projects implemented.
State Secretary at MAIA Vasile Sarban highlighted the importance of the ecological agriculture systems in the prevention and combating of the climate changes, poverty and food insecurity.
„For Moldova, the ecological agro-food production and its sale is a new opportunity to penetrate new foreign markets, given that the demand of ecological products is continuously increasing. At the same time, the ecological agriculture can be a solution, which might help producers turn to good account the farmlands and protect them through applying agricultural technology specific for the ecological agriculture,’’ Serban noted.
The official reiterated that the support and promotion of ecological agriculture was a priority subject on the agenda of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
