Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/- A photo camp was held in September in Ungheni. Local youth have been trained and encouraged to become promoters of gender equality and human rights in society through the art of photography.
Local and international experts provided support and guidance to the participants, who will eventually participate in a joint national exhibition, as well as organize their own photo exhibition in their hometown.
"We live in a society where there are many stereotypes, and these prevent women from asserting themselves. Perhaps because in the past these stereotypes were even more pronounced, not many women have been able to stand out in history, such as men, for example. Now, as these stereotypes have diminished, many women have stood out in the economic, medical, legal field and I believe that in the future these preconceptions could disappear. In order to combat discrimination, I believe that interviews should be conducted with several women who have distinguished themselves through their work, informative trainings should be held in schools, as well as camps in which to talk about equality ", said Ionela-Mirela Iutiș, pupil from Ungheni.
The photo camp was organized by the Media-Guard Association, in partnership with Ziarul de Garda, being carried out within the EVA Project Promoting gender equality in Cahul and Ungheni districts. This project was funded by the European Union and implemented by UN Women (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment), in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
