Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - The governor (bashkan) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, Irina Vlah, today participates in the conference titled, The best practices in the sector of ethnic minorities’ rights. The event is organized by the government of Hungary in the mandate of the European Council’s Presidency.
In Budapest, the bashkan had a meeting with Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy at the Ministry of Foreign and Trade of Hungary Ferenc Kalmár.
Irina Vlah thanked for the invitation to the conference and for the opportunity to come up with a message addressed to the participants.
“Gagauzia is a success story and an example of harmonious development of an autonomy. This success story is due to the fact that the central and regional authorities have managed to maintain a mutually respectful dialogue and to identify a compromise at any time. The success is impossible when the dialogue lacks and when the egoist approaches reign. We hope that the success story of Gagauzia will continue and, obviously, we count on the experience of Moldova’s development partners and your assistance in learning the art of dialogue and identifying the compromise,’’ Irina Vlah said.
