Austria donates consignment of medical equipment to Moldova

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - Austria has donated to Moldova a consignment of medical devices, distributed to the Emergency Medicine Institute. The batch contains special clothes for the medical staff and patients, 38 hospital beds, a cold light spotlight, two electric coagulators and other devices.

Attending the event on the donation’s reception was State Secretary of the Health Ministry Svetlana Nicolaescu and Ambassador of Austria to Moldova Stella Avallone.

„The pandemic proved us once again the power of the friendship between countries and how important it is for us to strengthen the efforts before a major challenge, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. I thank all medical employees who daily fight for each life and I urge the residents to observe the protection measures, to get vaccinated,’’ Svetlana Nicolaescu said.

For her part, Stella Avallone reconfirmed her country’s support for Moldova, in all activity sectors.

„The COVID-19 pandemic and its global effects showed us how important is for us to consolidate our health systems at the world level, in the spirit of the international solidarity and mutual help,’’ Stella Avallone added.

As many as 298,310 cases of infection with COVID-19 have been registered in Moldova since the beginning of the pandemic and 6,877 people have died because of the virus.
