Moldovan PM meets representatives of American Chamber of Commerce

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has met the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham). The AmCham representatives thanked the PM for openness for dialogue and expressed confidence that the reforms started by the current cabinet would contribute to the country’s development and flourishing, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

The discussions were focused on the actions undertaken by the government to ensure economic growth, including the measures of backing the business on the pandemic crisis period. In this respect, the prime minister highlighted the package of laws which provides for subsidizing the salaries and maintaining jobs in case of technical unemployment and short activity regime, subsidization of days off for a parent, if the education process with physical presence is suspended, as well as the acceleration of the entrance into force of the 6-per cent share of the value added tax (VAT) for the HORECA sector. According to Natalia Gavrilita, the ensuring of friendly conditions for the development of business is one of the government’s priorities, as a prosperous business environment directly contributes to the enhancement of the people’s well-being.      

Natalia Gavrilita also said the government’s actions were oriented to reform the justice, combat corruption, simplify the rules of enterprises’ work, digitalize the economic relations and, not in the least, to ensure the state’s energy security. Also, the cabinet’s efforts are focused on encouraging the return of the Diaspora, through policies due to support the people willing to work and invest in Moldova. 

Another priority direction of the government’s activity deals with the development of infrastructure. ‘’We are set to enhance the pace of implementation of the infrastructure projects and the quality of the works carried out with public money. The residents, as well as the business environment must benefit from good roads, sewerage and aqueducts, connection to gas supply, transport and energy at accessible prices,’’ PM Gavrilita added.
