Chisinau, 12 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics Ministry has presented a report of the social and economic evolution for January-August 2021. According to the report, the national economy registers a clear-cut tendency of recovery. So, in the first half of this year, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted to 104.2 billion lei, recording a real growth of 11.7 per cent against the same period of the 2020 year.
According to the competent ministry, the industrial sector is growing as well. This occurs after the industrial production increased by 13.6 per cent in January-July 2021.
At the same time, the goods and passenger transport sector returned to an ascendant trend, following the negative developments triggered by the pandemic crisis. In January-July 2021, the goods transport grew by 9 per cent and the passenger transport – by 14.1 per cent.
„Amid the decreases on the crisis period from 2020, the investment activity significantly increased in the first half of 2021. In January-June 2021, the investments in fixed assets in the first half of this year grew by 21.8 per cent, amounting to about 10.1 billion lei. The increase in the own investments of economic agents, public investments, as well as of foreign investments, oriented in machines and equipment, transport means and constructions sector, represented the basic factors which influenced the increase in investments,’’ the Economics Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the budgetary revenues are maintained on a positive trend, with a 20.1-per cent growth registered in last August. Cumulatively, revenues worth about 47 billion lei were collected in the national public budget in January-August 2021, which represents a 20.4-per cent increase against the same period of 2020. The positive result is due, to a great extent, to the re-launch of the domestic consumption, which favoured the increase in salaries from taxes and duties on goods and services.
Also, the international goods trade is boosted. ‘’The friendly external situation, due to the tempering of the negative consequences of the pandemic in the principal partner countries, led to the revival of the external demand and, therefore, the exports recorded a 15.5-per cent growth in January-July 2021, amounting to1,572.4 million dollars,’’ reads a press release by the Economics Ministry.
