Over 90 percent of intensive care beds in Moldova with COVID-19 patients

Chisinau, 12 October /MOLDPRES/- Only seven intensive care beds are still available in hospitals across the country. Other beds will be mobilized and all efforts will be directed to COVID patients, but to the detriment of other patients. The statements were made today by the Health Ministry management.
State Secretary Svetlana Nicolaescu said that in the last week, 9,443 cases of COVID-19 were registered. The epicenter of the epidemic remains the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti. The districts of Sângerei and Anenii Noi were also placed under the red code.
She added that the number of deaths is also increasing, but also of patients in serious condition. More than 300 patients are hospitalized in the intensive care units, and another 36 are intubated.
The number of COVID cases in minors is also increasing, but the authorities have decided to maintain the physical frequency of children in schools. Only a few schools have gone online, in most cases a few classes are quarantined.
Since the start of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, 1,437,198 doses have been administered, with 24% vaccine coverage.
