Monument in memory of victims of Holocaust to be set up in Orhei

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- The Cabinet at today's meeting approved a decision on setting up in Orhei of the monument in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

The Government approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture, under the decision of the Orhei Municipal Council, the establishment in Orhei of the monument in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

"The monument will be built according to a project approved by the Ministry of Culture. The expenses for the elaboration of the project documentation, the execution, the construction of the monument and the arrangement of the afferent land will be covered from the account of the financial means of the budget of Orhei municipality ”, the document reads.

According to historical data, almost four thousand Jews, natives of Orhei, were victims of the Holocaust.

The decision shall enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
