Moldovan government stepping up measures to manage aviation emergencies

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- The government will strengthen the state's capacity in civil aviation security. The Cabinet of Ministers today approved the Regulation on organization of the National Search and Rescue System (SNCS) in the event of an aviation accident, which aligns national legislation with international standards set by the Annexes to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, Annex No12 Search and Rescue, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The regulation provides for the establishment of a unitary set of rules aimed at the intervention procedures of the competent state institutions in managing and removing the effects of emergencies in case of an aviation accident.
The document establishes the structure of the SNCS, the duties, the alert system, the borders of the search-and-rescue region and cross-border cooperation, as well as the interaction and responsibilities of the profile authorities regarding the search-and-rescue processes in the event of an aircraft accident.
Thus, SNCS will operate 24/7 and will have alert units, such as the Air Traffic Management Service within MoldATSA, aerodrome operators, 112 Service; specialized emergency services within the Emergency Medical Assistance Service, the General Inspectorate of Police and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations; Joint search and rescue coordination group; the commander of the intervention, as well as other public authorities, private people and / or legal entities, who may be requested to provide assistance in search-and-rescue operations.
