Monument in memory of victims of Holocaust to be built in Orhei

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- The executive approved today the bill for the construction of a monument in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. According to the document, the work will be located on the Alley of Monuments in Vasile Lupu Street in Orhei, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The expenses for the elaboration of the project documentation, the execution and the construction of the monument, but also for the arrangement of the afferent land, will be covered from the account of the financial means of the budget of Orhei municipality.
According to historical data, approximately 4,000 Jews in Orhei district were victims of the 1941-1945 genocide.
Also today, the draft Government decision approving the erection of a monument in memory of Nicolae Titulescu was approved. The work would be located in Chisinau, in the square of Decebal and N. Titulescu streets, at the initiative of the European Titulescu Foundation in Romania and the Romanian Cultural Institute Mihai Eminescu.
Nicolae Titulescu was a Romanian diplomat, lawyer, university professor and politician. He has repeatedly been Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister, President of the League of Nations and full member of the Romanian Academy.
