Government to protect citizens in gas market problems - PM says

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- Government is monitoring the energy market, or, even if there is currently a problem on gas market, the Executive will do everything possible to ensure that citizens are not affected, Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa said today.

The prime minister said the government would negotiate with Russian concern Gazprom, pleading for previous prices, while the Russian side had other views. "It is a complicated situation, and next week more things will be clear. At the same time, we are examining several solutions, for different eventualities, so that the public institutions, the citizens of the country will be protected ", said Gavriliţa.

In this context, the official named several social programs that provide for compensation and measures to support disadvantaged groups.

The official said she convened this evening the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies to consider the country's gas supply.
