Moldovan president meets MEP

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu met today with Dragoș Tudorache, Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Moldova, who is on a working visit to Chisinau, the presidential press service has reported.

The discussion focused on the developments produced in the last months in the country, the changes started after the parliamentary elections in July and the appointment of the Executive and current issues. The head of state said that the governing team remains firm in its commitment to clean up and reform the justice sector, a process that will lead to the cleansing of other state institutions and increase their capacity. We need professional and honest people in all areas and this is one of the key priorities of government today.

The sides also referred to the impact of the fourth wave of the pandemic on the medical system and the economy, implicitly to the need to increase the level of vaccination. In this context, Maia Sandu thanked for the help provided by the European Union and the member countries in the fight against Covid-19, and for the Economic Recovery Plan worth 600 million euros, launched by the European Union for our country. In his turn, Dragoș Tudorache wanted to emphasize that the European Union will remain close to Moldova, providing support for the good of the citizens and for ensuring stability in the region.
