Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - Hundreds of households from the Razeni village, central Ialoveni district, have running drinking water due to a support provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Moldova, through the My Community Programme.
The Razeni mayoralty benefited from USAID’s financing, in order to replace five out of those eight pumping and treatment towers with the expired exploitation term. The setting of the new towers improved the water’s quality. ‘’This was really horrible. The water has been earlier black, it smelled of mud, iron,’’ a Razeni resident, Elena Titica, said.
The project’s overall value is of 97,000 dollars, of which 55,000 dollars is provided by USAID, through the My Community Programme and the rest represents the local contribution.
My Community is the USAID’s principal programme in the local governance sector and is aimed at backing the local public authorities, so that they become more efficient, transparent and responsible towards the citizens, as well as at providing technical assistance and trainings to the mayoralties’ employees, in order to be able to meet the citizens’ needs. The programme’s assistance regards, as a priority, the first-level local public authorities; yet, the local civic groups and business environment will benefit from support as well, as their abilities to promote the rights will improve.
