Law on ratification of Istanbul Convention promulgated

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu today promulgated the Law on Ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, the presidential press service has reported.
The convention was ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in final reading on October 14.
The Republic of Moldova becomes the 35th member state of the Council of Europe (out of 47) to ratify this document, also known as the Istanbul Convention. Countries that have ratified the Convention are committed to ensuring the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, the protection of victims, the prosecution of criminals and the adoption of integrated policies in this field.
