European Commission published report on implementation of Moldova - EU Association Agreement

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- As part of the process of preparing for the 6th meeting of Moldova - EU Association Council, the European Commission published the implementation report of the Association Agreement containing the evaluation of the progress made for the period of two years: September 2019 - October 2021, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The report's findings on the priorities of the reform process are in line with the Government's priorities in August 2021 and include the fight against corruption, justice reform and the fight against poverty by modernizing society in line with the commitments set out in the Association Agreement. At the same time, accumulated arrears were reported, including in the context of political instability, but also due to the detrimental impact of the pandemic.

"The Republic of Moldova is fully committed to carrying out the reforms requested by the citizens in the process of European integration. Currently, the authorities are making efforts to boost the fulfillment of our country's commitments in relation to the EU. Important reform actions in the field of justice, the fight against corruption, the rule of law and a business environment conducive to investors are reflected in the actions of the government. These will be part of the Association Agenda for 2021 - 2027 which is at the finalization stage ", Minister Nicu Popescu said.

The short and medium term priorities for the implementation of Moldova - European Union Association Agreement are to be discussed at the Association Council on 28 October.
