Health authorities to investigate case of child in Israel

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- The leadership of the Ministry of Health has announced that it will investigate from an epidemiological point of view the case of a minor, returned from Moldova and found in Israel with a new form of mutation of the Delta variant.

Secretary of State Svetlana Nicolăescu said today that the Ministry of Health does not yet have details about this case, but it will be investigated from an epidemiological point of view.

She said it was important in the evolution of this pandemic to ensure the monitoring of new variants of the virus. “The surveillance method is through sequencing, and the ANSP laboratory was equipped with such equipment. Exactly this week, there are training of the staff that we carry out with the support of the WHO ", said Nicolaescu.

The official assured that the vaccines that are used today in the country are also effective on the new strains and urged people to get vaccinated, stating that in the capital there are no more beds in the intensive care units.

An 11-year-old boy who is supposed to have returned from the Republic of Moldova was found on Monday, October 18, in Israel, at Ben-Gurion Airport with a new mutation of the Delta strain. The minor was placed in quarantine.
