Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the Central Electoral Commission / CEC /, the State Tax Service and the Financial Inspectorate convened in first meeting of interinstitutional working group for supervision and control of the financing of political parties.
The central electoral administration announced that during the meeting, an exchange of views was made on the principles and mechanisms of activity of the group, the interaction of the authorities involved and the development of a methodology in this regard.
The participants highlighted the need for increased control over the income and expenditure of electoral contestants, both those declared and, possibly, those not declared. In addition, methods of preventing and combating the use of administrative resources in election campaigns were discussed.
The CEC aims to increase the transparency and fairness of the financing of the electoral campaign for the new local elections on November 21. By involving in the control process the representatives of the competent state institutions, the electoral authority strengthens its financial control capacities over the electoral contestants. This year's activity has a pilot character and aims to lay the groundwork for the permanent supervision and control of the financial activity of political parties in the next elections.
