Roadmen monitored repair of road bridge over Prut river

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/- State Road Administration (ASD) management today inspected the repair works of the road bridge on expressway M1 Border with Romania - Leuseni - Chisinau - Dubasari - border with Ukraine, km 0 + 00, which crosses the Prut River, nearby Leușeni - Albița customs post.

According to ASD, repair work is currently being carried out on the sector at the level of the bridge superstructure, which provides for sandblasting and corrosion protection of the metal deck, supports, as well as the restoration of concrete for benches, abutments and piles.

"Significant damage is detected, mainly on the bridge. ASD will identify technical solutions to minimize the risk of suspension of traffic on the bridge and not to allow traffic restrictions for heavy transport. The road bridge on the M1 route has a strategic importance for Moldova, ensuring a transit corridor of the territory of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union ", ASD acting director-general Sergiu Bejan said.

"The technical solutions to recover the degradations will provide for the preservation of the width of the roadway of seven meters, with the abandonment of sidewalks and the installation of safety parapets on both sides of the roadway. Also, works are planned such as the redevelopment of the roadway, the execution of access stairs and stormwater drainage ditches, the installation of the bridge connection elements with the embankment, the cleaning of the bottom of the Prut riverbed and others ", the institution said.

The repair works of the road bridge on the M1 route are being carried out under the program on distribution of the means of the road fund for the national public roads for 2021.
