Five men detained by police after trying to sell weapons online

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/- Five people aged of 20 - 28 have been caught by police after trying to sell non-lethal weapons on Internet.
According to police, the suspects were found in an investigative-operative action carried out in order to detect and counter the illegal trade in non-lethal weapons on the Internet.
As a result of the actions taken, the investigation officers identified several people who sold illegally owned non-lethal weapons online, with a price from 2,000 to 4,000 lei for a weapon. Also, the police established that the weapons were introduced on the territory of the Republic of Moldova without customs clearance, later being placed on the Internet to be traded.
Following the actions carried out by the police, 7 weapons were seized. These were handed over for ballistic expertise to the Technical-Criminalistic and Judicial Expertise Center of the IGP.
The suspects risk a fine of up to 4,500 lei, the confiscation of weapons or, as the case may be, their destruction.
According to the law, the use and application in public places of compressed air or pneumatic weapons is prohibited.
