Number of beds for treatment of COVID-19 patients to be supplemented in hospitals from Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The municipal hospitals presently have 1,708 places for the treatment of COVID-19.
At a today’s meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), the deputy head of the Chisinau city hall’s social assistance and health general department, Boris Galca, said that the ‘’city hall supplemented the number of beds of treatment for COVID-19, with their number reaching 1,708.’’
”There are a bit more than 3,000 beds for the treatment of COVID-19 in Moldova; more than a half are in municipal hospitals. We ask for the central authorities’ help to find additional treatment spaces, if needed,’’ Galca said.
At the same time, the official asked the Health Ministry to create a working group for strategic planning at country level, in case of an eventual pandemic catastrophe. ‘’The figure of 43 deaths registered in a single day represents one of the biggest statistics recorded since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. This figure represents not only a sad statistics, but also a signal of warning for planning response measures before a possible humanitarian tragedy,’’ Galca said.
As many as 1,846 new cases of infection with the new-type coronavirus were registered in Moldova on 27 October and 43 people died because of complications triggered by COVID-19; thus, the overall number of dead has reached 7,619.
