Autumn vacation extended in Moldovan schools under red code of alert

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today ruled to extend the autumn vacation by seven days (1 November 2021-7 November 2021) for the pupils from the public and private elementary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums, in the first- and second-level administrative and territorial units: Chisinau and Balti cities, as well as in settlements from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, in which the red code of alert is established.
The decision was taken, in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and ensure the prophylaxis, health of the pupils and employees of the general education system, based on the Decision No 64 of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission from 26 October 2021. Under the order, signed by Minister Anatolie Topala, the local specialty bodies in the education sector will issue instructions on the prolongation of the vacation for the institutions in the area managed, if they are part of the zones where the red code of alert is set.
„The Education and Research Ministry warn the heads of the concerned education institutions to establish, on the extended period of the autumn vacation, a flexible or special working regime, with attracting to work of only the strictly needed staff, in order to ensure the institutions’ functionality. The employees, whose presence is not compulsory in the education institution, will carry out their activities online. Also, no activities will be carried out with the physical presence of children in the extra-school education institutions,’’ MEC said.
The Education Ministry notes that the education institutions which are not in the areas in the red code of alert will continue working with the pupils’ physical presence as of 1 November.
