Authorities presented achievements, priorities of Moldova IT Park

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- Digital transformation of the country and state's commitment to the development of IT park were discussed at Sum IT Up, an event organized by the Moldova IT Park Administration, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy. The management of the Park presented the evolution registered by residents in the first semester and the priorities set for the next period.

Despite the constraints imposed by the pandemic, the turnover achieved by the residents of Moldova IT Park in 2020 exceeded by 25% the forecasted income, about 80% being the export of services. The number of employees of resident companies has also increased and reached over 12 thousand people.

“The evolution of turnover in the IT industry in recent years confirms that Moldova IT Park has become a catalyst for the development and diversification of the IT industry in the Republic of Moldova, its decisive factor for regional competitiveness. The number of residents has recently exceeded 880 companies, of which 169 are companies with foreign capital from 35 countries. The achieved results exceeded two or three times the projected indicators at the creation of the park. We reiterate the support of the initiatives for the development of the park and for the facilitation and support of the residents' activity ", said Andrei Cușcă, head of department of the Ministry of Economy.

The government has recently adjusted the organization and functioning of the park administration. Thus, the current residents will be able to interact remotely with the Park Administration, and for potential residents the accession procedure has been simplified.

Also, the Ministry of Economy continues to ensure the activity of the Commission "IT Visa" and the issuance of permits to the Office of Migration and Asylum, and park residents can attract highly qualified specialists and managers from abroad, benefiting from residence permits with the right to work. 2 or 4 years, with the possibility of extension. Since its launch, 72 foreign employees of residents have benefited from this mechanism.

Moldova IT Park is a platform created by the Government to boost investment and development of IT business, research, development and digital innovation. Currently, in the Park are registered over 880 resident companies, with over 13.6 thousand employees and a forecasted revenue for the current year of over 5.4 billion lei. During 2020, the residents of Moldova IT Park contributed over 540 million lei to the National Public Budget, from single tax and other taxes.
