Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the country's Regional Development Agencies (ADR), along with counterparts from Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Northern Macedonia and Serbia, recently paid a virtual study visit and became familiar with Germany's experience in locating and implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

During the event, the institutional architecture and the policy architecture for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at federal, state, and local level were presented. In this regard, the organizers of the visit highlighted the important role that the Council for Sustainable Development has in the process of implementing the 2030 Agenda, a permanent platform that produces analyzes and consults with German government entities in the field of sustainable development. The activity of the regional hub networks and their role in the implementation of the National Sustainable Development Strategy were also brought as an example of good practice.

In order to share the practice of implementing the 2030 Agenda, at regional and local level, the experience of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was presented, including the part aimed at locating targets and indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals, their integration in local Sustainable Development Strategies, examples of their implementation are given in Bonn (urban) and Feldheim (rural).

Following that visit, it was found that at the level of processes, the Republic of Moldova applies a similar practice to Germany in terms of locating and integrating the targets of the 2030 Agenda into the national policy framework. "However, significant efforts are needed to ensure the integration of those targets and indicators at regional and local level. Also, with reference to the institutional framework, given the importance of its role in both the coordination process and the direct implementation of the 2030 Agenda, it is considered wise to take the necessary actions to develop and strengthen it, including through capacity building. In this sense, the State Chancellery has initiated activities aimed at adjusting the Regulation of the National Council for the coordination of sustainable development, a first step in this regard being the study of the experience of other states ", say the Moldovan authorities.

The virtual study visit was organized with the support of the Project Support for the Government of the Republic of Moldova in implementing the 2030 Agenda, implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
