Restoration of road segment in central Moldova close to completion

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the State Administration of Roads (ASD) today held a meeting with the entrepreneur from Azerbaijan on the progress of the works of restoration of a segment with the length of 17.6 km of the national road R1 Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni. The segment under repair crosses the towns Vatra and Straseni and records a progress of the works’ carrying out of about 90 per cent.

The entrepreneur informed that he presently carried out works of putting the wear layer, construction of sidewalks, setting the New Jersey-type parapet, as well as the construction of a drainage system.

The repair of the aforementioned road segment, which is part of the R1 national road, is financed from a loan worth 23 million euros, allocated by the European Investment Bank to Moldova’s government.

ASD has earlier cancelled the contract on the rehabilitation of the national road R33 Hancesti-Lapusna with the abovementioned entrepreneur, for reasons that he failed to fulfill the contractual obligations.
