National mourning day declared in Moldova on 5 November, given funerals of well-known Moldovan fine artist

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has signed a decree, according to which the day of 5 November 2021 was declared national mourning day all over Moldova, as the funerals of fine artist Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu will take place in this day. The national mourning is established to commemorate the famous painter Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu, who was a promoter of the national and universal cultural values, the presidential press service has reported.
Under the presidential decree, on 5 November, the state flags will be raised half mast in all the country’s settlements and at 12:00, the memory of fine artist Valentina Rusu-Ciobanu will be honoured by standing silent for one minute. The funerals ceremony will be broadcast live by the Teleradio-Moldova public company.
At the same time, the public authorities, enterprises and organizations are recommended to give up the carrying out on 5 November 2021of mass entertainment actions and the editorial offices of newspapers, radio and TV stations – to take into account the specific feature of this day when editing publications and making programmes.
