Moldovan government approves ratification of agreements in social security sector with Italy, Greece

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers has approved a draft law for the ratification of the agreement between Moldova and Italy in the social security sector, signed in Rome on 18 June 2021 and the agreement in the social security sector with Greece, signed on 8 September 2021, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The documents establish a framework of social security guarantees for the migrant workers from Moldova, who carry out of carried out a labour activity on the territory of Italy and Greece.
Based on the agreements with the two countries, the entitled people will benefit from age limit pensions, pensions of disability triggered by general diseases, pensions and allowances of disability in the wake of labour accidents or caused by professional diseases, survivor’s pensions.
According to the provisions stipulated, each contracting state will pay the part of pension calculated proportionally with the period of insurance carried out on its own territory. Thus, the person will benefit from the bonuses got in the state where he/she worked on the territory of the residence state.
After the approval by the government, the drafts will be submitted to Moldova’s Presidency for consideration. Moldova has signed social security agreements with 16 states, of which 14 are successfully enforced.
