Moldovan cabinet has mechanisms of backing residents, in context of increase in gas tariffs, social protection minister says

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government has mechanisms of backing the residents on the cold period of the year, in the context of the increase in the natural gas tariffs. Labour and Social Protection Minister Marcel Spataru made statements to this effect at a news conference following the cabinet meeting.

„We have mechanisms of support, which provide for the compensation on the strict segment of the increase of gas prices,’’ Spataru noted.

According to the official, the central authorities are presently in a process of analysis. ‘’We do not know what are the exact tariffs; we still do not know other details; yet, we will have general compensations for all gas consumers, which will come additionally to the current allowances, valid for the cold period of the year,’’ the labour and social protection minister said.   

„The resources which we have in terms of identifying the disadvantaged categories do not allow us, for the time being, to accurately identify the vulnerable families, which will be concretely contained in the invoice for a needy family. When we know all details as to the gas tariffs, along with the Finance Ministry, other state structures, we will be able to clear up all which is dealing with the fair compensation of the expenses for gas,’’ Marcel Spataru added.
