Moldovan, Lithuanian officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration held a meeting yesterday with Arvydas Anušauskas, Lithuanian Minister of Defense, who was visiting Chisinau.
According to MAEIE press service, the officials referred to the evolution of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, future plans to boost and expand it, regional and energy security, the Transnistrian settlement process and opportunities to adopt good practices and Lithuanian expertise in areas of mutual interest. Ministers stressed the importance of using on the potential for cooperation between our countries.
"We expressed openness to boost collaboration aimed at military education, reforming the defense and security sector, countering hybrid threats and strategic communication. I also referred to the soon launch of the High-Level Dialogue on Policy and Security with the EU, which will allow us to implement projects to strengthen Moldova's capacity under the European Instrument for Peace, " Nicu Popescu said.
It should be noted that over the years, Lithuania has provided assistance in capacity building and reform of the defense sector in our country as well as contributed to the modernization of the National Army by training and training in multinational exercises, scholarships offered to Moldovan officers in specialized institutions in Lithuania and specialization courses at the Military Academy in Vilnius and the School of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in Kaunas.
