Delegation from southern Moldova pays study visit to Romania

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Regional Council for Development (CRD) and representatives of the South Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud) have recently paid a working visit to the North-East Development Region of Romania. The delegation from southern Moldova visited more settlements and tourist destinations from Romania and collected facts, in order to assimilate and take over from the Romanian experience the good practices in the regional development sector.     

The CRD Sud members had meetings with local public authorities from Romania. In the Iasi, Suceava and Piatra Neamt municipalities, as well as the Gura Humorului town, county councils along with the mayoralties of these settlements presented success projects in the fields of urban development, intelligent specialization and innovation, economic development, tourism, as well as the own vision on the regional development process. 

"Also, Moldova’s delegation was informed about the agreement between the two countries on regulating the construction of aqueducts, signed in May 2021. Thus, within a cross-border project, the ApaVital Iasi Company will build aqueducts due to cross the Prut river for supply with drinking water from the Iasi county, Romania, of the districts of Nisporeni, Ungheni, Glodeni and Falesti. As a result, a quarter million of citizens from Moldova will be able to benefit from quality water from a Romanian aqueduct,’’ ADR Sud said.  

In the North-East Development Region, the delegation from southern Moldova also visited the Probota Monastery, Throne City of Suceava and the National Museum of Bucovina – tourist objects renovated through the Operational Programme 2014-2020, within European projects co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund.    

The visit to the North-East Development Region of Romania ended with a bilateral meeting of the director general of ADR North-East with Moldova. At the event, director Vasile Asandei made a comprehensive presentation of the institution’s work, along with a review of the regional development projects implemented through the Operational Programme 2014-2020, as well as of the projects co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.    

The study visit was held within the project, Support for Regional Council for Development from South Development Region, implemented by ADR Sud with the financial support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
