Chisinau Municipal Council provides 4.4 million lei to compensate damages of families who lost dwellings in fire

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today approved the allocation of financial means to the residents of the attic, which took fire on the Ion Pelivan Street from the capital on 23 October.
Under the decision by the municipal councilors, the owners of those 20 attics destroyed by the fire will get damages’ compensations with 9,000 lei for one square metre. The overall sum earmarked by the Chisinau city hall from the reserve fund is 4 million 400,000 lei.
At the same time, more municipal councilors asked to inspect all those 200 attics constructed in the city and to work out plans on protection against all calamities. The councils also asked to initiate a legislative measure, through which the compulsoriness of ensuring the private dwellings would be introduced.
According to the praetor of Chisinau’s Buiucani district, Vadim Branzaniuc, money will be allocated from the reserve fund of the Chisinau city hall for constructing the roof of the fired attic, as the latter can no longer be reconstructed.
The attic of a building on the Ion Pelivan Street took fire on 23 October; all 20 dwellings of the attic burned completely. For the time being, authorities consider the reason for the fire, to give their opinion.
