Moldovan parliament ratifies Optional Protocol to UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The document regulates the competence of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as to the procedure of reception and analysis of pieces of news from and on behalf people or groups of people who say that they are victims of the infringement of the rights of persons with disabilities, by a state member of the UN Convention and establishes the clear procedure of considering the individual complaints.
The ratification of the Optional Protocol does not imply additional costs; respectively, spending from the state budget is not necessary.
Moldova ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2010. The Optional Protocol was signed by 94 states and ratified by 100 states.
