Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - The product MR8, made out of recycled plastic, was presented at the State Administration of Roads (ASD) today. The product can be used in pavement mixtures, cutting the volume of bitumen needed, in order to minimize the expenses and emissions of CO2.
The product is made by a company from Scotland. According to specialists, MR8 improves the physical and material features of the road cloth and can be added in pavement mixtures at a level of 10-15 of the bitumen’s composition, with a saving of 5-10 per cent resulting as compared with the costs for bitumen.
„The MR8 recycled material minimizes the emissions of CO2 by 1.55 kg for each kilogram of MR8 used. ‘’In the spring of 2022, when the weather conditions allow this, we will make an experimental segment with MR8, in order to verify its implementation on the roads from Moldova,’’ the ASD acting director general, Sergiu Bejan, said.
Attending the product’s presentation were economic agents and representatives of designing companies in the road infrastructure sector.
