Young Moldovan to be tried after purloining 200,000 lei from cards

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - A young 22-year-old man from the northern Soroca city has been detained for the hidden purloining of money of people who were suggesting various goods for sale, after the man was getting data on accessing bank accounts from the Internet or through mobile application.    

According to data by the Prosecutor’s Office, the young man identified from the Internet announcements by over 60 people from Moldova, who were putting for sale vehicles, phones, clothes and other goods.  Subsequently, the man was promising to buy the assets announced through transfer of money to their bank card. Yet, the perpetrator was claiming that the only way in which he was able to make the transfer was the communication by people of the bank card’s data through Internet, as well as the passwords of accessing the bank accounts on the Internet or through application downloaded on the phone.  Thus, in the last years, the man has made damages to victims worth over 200,000 lei.  

The young man was detained and if found guilty, he runs the risk of being sentenced to 5-10 years of imprisonment.
