Moldovan theologian would have turned 95 today

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/- Writer and theologian Antonie (Leonida) Plămădeală, Metropolitan of Transylvania, Crișana and Maramureș, philosopher, man of culture, historian and essayist, encyclopedic personality, honorary member of the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, “the most significant author of religious literature from the twentieth century in Romania " would have turned 95 today.
He was awarded the Order Saint Peter and Paul by the Patriarchate of Antioch, the Order Holy Sepulcher of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the Order Papal Cross, granted by Pope Paul IV, the Order Saints Methodius and Cyril of the Bulgarian Patriarchate, the Order Saint Serghei de Radonej of the Moscow Patriarchate, the Order Martin Luther of the Protestant Church in Germany.
He passed away on August 29, 2005 in Sibiu.
Since 2006, the Hâncești public library bears his name.
