Moldovans working in Italy or Greece to be eligible for pensions

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan citizens who are employed in Greece or Italy could benefit from a pension in these countries upon reaching retirement age.
The Parliament's Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee approved, at today's meeting a report on draft laws on ratification of the Agreements between the Republic of Moldova and the two countries.
The agreement with Italy in social security was signed in Rome on 18 June 2021, and with Greece on 8 September 2021. Based on these documents, the entitled persons will benefit from old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by general illnesses, pensions and disability allowances following work accidents or caused by occupational diseases, survivor's pensions.
Thus, each contracting state shall pay the part of the pension calculated in proportion to the period of insurance completed in its territory. The person will benefit from the benefits acquired in the states in which he carried out his activity, on the territory of the state of residence.
To date, the Republic of Moldova has signed social security agreements with 16 states, 14 of which are in force.
