Former leader of Moldovan Democratic Party to be tried in new file

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) today informed that it had received for administering a criminal file on investigating the offence of illicit enrichment in particularly large amounts of the former leader of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc.
According to quoted source, the file reached PCCOCS after the acting Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, had cancelled an ordinance on the refusal of carrying out the criminal prosecution, issued in the summer of 2021.
The new criminal file against Plahotniuc was opened based on an act of notification of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS). According to preliminary investigations, the movable assets (including a luxury yacht) and real estate, in such states as Switzerland, Romania, Spain, were got by the suspect including on the period when he exercised the position of MP in Moldova’s parliament.
