Moldovan central electoral authority cancels registration of one electoral contender

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has asked the Balti Court to cancel the registration of the electoral contender Vladimir Dachi, nominated by he WE Political Party for the office of Balti mayor.
The CEC’s decision was adopted unanimously at a today’s meeting and is the result of the control of showing the incomes and expenses of all electoral contenders in the electoral campaign for the new local polls, due on 21 November 2021.
Following the additional control carried out by CEC representatives, it was found out that electoral contender Vladimir Dachi used undeclared financial funds. It is about the working out and distribution by the candidate of folders with electoral nuance in the Balti city, the value of which was 8,200 lei and these resources, non-paid in cash to the economic agent which made them, were not showed in the reports due to be submitted to CEC.
Also, the central electoral authority stressed that, since the moment of registration as electoral contender, the WE Political Party had not submitted any financial report to CEC, even of it was publicly summoned at Commission’s meetings, officially summoned through approaches and sanctions even were imposed against it for refusal to observe the provisions of the electoral legislation in the field of financing the electoral campaign.
In the process of taking the decision on initiating the process of exclusion from the electoral race, the Central Electoral Commission said that this electoral contender had consciously and deliberately defied the legal provisions as to the financial reporting, even if he was publicly warned and sanctioned twice on the electoral period for infringements concerning the financing of the electoral campaign.
