Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has real chance to make deep, systemic changes in the justice sector. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect at the opening of the forum for reformation of justice and combating corruption, the presidential press service has reported.
In her speech, President Maia Sandu said that the reformation of the justice sector was the priority No 1 of the governance, as well as of the citizens. ‘’After more failed attempts to make proper order in justice, today we have finally occasion to make things work. Presently, the country’s leadership – president, parliamentary majority, government – wants the institutions in the justice field to become functional, independent and to act with integrity and professionalism,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The president also said that another priority of the governmental team was the fight against the big corruption, with the offenders who turned the state’s institutions into sources of personal unearned income.
At the forum, the head of state also conveyed a message for the employees from the judicial system and from the sector of law-enforcement bodies. ‘’Come and give a helping hand to the change underway. This time, we will succeed. We will make use of every ability, resources and political will to this end. The progress in this field is needed – and this is inevitable,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
