Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - A new meteorological station was inaugurated in the Baltata village, central Criuleni district, today.
There was an old meteorological station in the settlements, constructed in 1980s; yet, given that the building needed capital reconstruction, it was conserved.
„A new station of the modular type was constructed. Its place can be changed, depending on the weather conditions, which vary. The observation points are mobile and are endowed with modern equipment. Thus, due to the flexibility of these sources, which provide meteorological data, the weather forecast can be worked out with a higher accuracy. The new meteorological station has an area of 54 square metres, i.e. it is economic,’’ the Environment ministry said.
The station will be managed by the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) within the Environment Ministry. Presently, the work of Moldova’s SHS is based on observations carried out at those 90 observation points (stations and posts).
