Moldovan interior minister has meeting with officials from U.S. Department of Defence

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/- A delegation of the Interior Ministry (MAI), led by Minister Ana Revenco, in the United States today had a meeting with officials of the U.S. Department of State, Defence Threat Reduction Agency.
At the meeting, the sides put emphasis on the medium-term priorities, with possibility to carry out a mission of evaluation of the American Department of Defence in early 2022, in order to identify perspectives of national capacity of the sectors of civil protection, border management, as well as public order and security, in order to work out programmes on institutional consolidation, with the goal to develop the national resilience in the nuclear security sector.
The officials considered the enhancement and consolidation of the capacities of the Border Police to discourage, detect and ban the crossing of the mass destruction weapons and related materials across Moldova’s borders.
Depending on the results of the future mission of the U.S. Department of Defence in Moldova, starting from the next year, the sides will bring for discussion the U.S. assistance in form of equipment, materials, technologies and trainings, in order to enhance the borders’ security for the prevention, detection, discouraging and prohibiting the trafficking with mass destruction weapons and related materials and technologies, across the territory of Moldova.
A delegation of the Interior Ministry led by Minister Ana Revenco is on a 15-19 November visit to the United States.
